Ab Benches
Ab benches are devices that are similar to weight benches, with the exception that ab benches have attachment at one end to allow you to anchor your feet and ankles for sit-ups and crunches. A staple in boxing and MMA gyms, this is a classic piece of equipment that any hard core fitness buff can own without feeling like they’re trying to cut corners in their workout.
In addition, they often are adjustable to allow you to increase the difficulty of the exercise. By lowering the “head” of the bench to tilt the flat part of the bench at an angle, it forces your body to work against gravity, which in turn makes your abs work harder. This is why the ab bench is so widely accepted in gyms and fitness centers – it really does make your abs work.
The Stamina Ab / Hyper Bench is one such device that get great reviews on Amazon. While not the cheapest piece of equipment on this site, it did show itself to be among the highest in customer satisfaction according to Amazon’s review scale, a good indication that it’s a solid machine.
Ab Circle
Ab Circle Pro is one of those items you see on T.V. and think, “That looks like a gimmick… I wonder if it works?”
It is. Stay away from this piece of equipment. While the concept seems to hold promise, the bio-mechanics of the movements you do on the machine leave much to be desired, and this piece of equipment had the worst customer satisfaction ratings of any we found.
Unless you get one for free, avoid this machine.
Ab Coaster
The Ab Coaster Pro is definitely the most expensive piece of equipment we’ve reviewed thus far. It’s a heavy-duty, near-commercial-gym-quality abdominal exercise machine that does one thing and one thing only…
It works your abs – hard. The design of the machine is such that your abs do virtually all the work in moving your legs and hips toward your upper body, folding your torso at a precise angle so you are able to target your entire front and side midsection.
While it’s certainly a great piece of equipment, considering the price it seems to be a bit on the overkill side for someone who just wants to get a good ab workout a few days a week. Even so, if you want to get the “Cadillac” of ab machines, this would be it.

Ab Exercise Machine Reviews
If you’re shopping for an ab exercise machine, chances are that you’re looking for something that will make your workout easier and more enjoyable. But, it can be confusing when you see the sheer number of ab machines on the market.
That’s why we’ve collected reviews and descriptions of all the top ab equipment brands and models here for you to choose from. Just check out our reviews and articles to find all the information you need for selecting the right model, all in one place.
Ab Trainer – Ab Roller
The Ab Trainer and Ab Roller machines are virtually the same piece of equipment, with the Ab Roller being the less expensive, lighter-use model, and the Ab Trainer being the heavier-duty version.
The Ab Shaper Abdominal Roller actually costs roughly one-half of what the Ab Roller does, and both machines perform the exact same function – they support your head and neck while helping your body stay in good form during the abdominal exercise.
For a machine that you can get for less than $30, it’s a decent piece of equipment. However, the main downside to this equipment is that it requires you to do your ab exercises on the floor. For those people who may have trouble getting down and back up from the floor, you will be better off getting a more substantial piece of equipment.
Ab Slide – Ab Wheel
The Sunny Health & Fitness Roller Slide is a super simple piece of equipment that works on a simple principle. You kneel on the floor, hold the handles in your hands, and slide your upper body out and back using the Ab Slide. I use a similar product, and I can honestly say that this simple machine can give you the best ab workout of your life.
But, a few words of caution. First, your upper body has to be in somewhat decent shape to get the most out of the Ab Slide. While the machine itself does have a resistance mechanism that acts as a sort of “brake” (to prevent you from sliding out and falling flat on your face), you still need to have a decent amount of upper body strength to use this device.
Also, these devices are known to wear out under heavy use. Since they’re fairly inexpensive to replace, this may not be an issue with you; however, just be aware that if you plan to use it a lot you make be replacing your machine every few months.
